Barbara Carrera , Jury President
Barbara Carrera has garnered much acclaim in her acting career, including a Golden Globe Award nomination for "Best Supporting Actress" in the James Bond thriller "Never Say Never Again" with Sean Connery, and an Emmy Award nomination for her role in James Michener's "Centennial" mini-series. Following Centennial she came to Hawaii to shoot the Irving Allen disaster film, "WhenTime Ran Out", costarring Paul Newman and Jacqueline Bisset.Then came the role of Russian spy In Disney's "Condorman" before she returned to TV and a leading role In the ABC miniseries "Masada" with Peter O'Toole. She has worked with some of the greatest actors of our time, including Richard Chamberlain, Bette Davis, Burt Lancaster, Peter O'Toole and Sir Lawrence Olivier. Nicaraguan born, Barbara Carrera has traveled the world over, mastering five languages.

 

Rick Blangiardi
Mr. Blangiardi is President & General Manager of KGMB9, Hawaii’s CBS Network affiliate. He has been an executive in the television industry for close to 30 years, succeeding in some of the nation's most competitive markets including: Seattle (VP & GM, King 5 Television), New York City (VP, New Business Development, CBS Television Network), San Francisco (VP & GM, KPIX 5 Television) and Los Angeles, California where he was the President of Telemundo Group. Blangiardi has a Masters in Education from the University of Hawaii, continues to participate as an active Director for local organizations such as the Aloha Council Boy Scouts,Aloha United Way, Central Pacific Bank and the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, to name a few. At Chaminade University, Rick is also a member of the Board of Regents and on the Hogan Entrepreneur Advisory Board.

 

Tom Brislin
Tom Brislin is a professor and chairman of the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Academy for Creative Media. He is a former chair of the Journalism and Communication Departments and the founding chair of the School of Communications.Tom had an extensive career as a newspaper and broadcast journalist in Hawaii and Guam. Since rejoining the university he enjoys a reputation as an international scholar in media ethics. He has directed international mass media programs and projects with filmmakers, journalists and media scholars from the People’s Republic of China, Germany, Korea, and Japan. He has twice been a Fulbright Scholar.

 

Neal Israel
Mr. Israel has worked as a writer, director, producer and occasional actor for films, television and Broadway.A sampling of over 30 film credits: created the Police Academy films, wrote and directed Bachelor Party starring Tom Hanks, wrote Real Genius starring Val Kilmer, cowrote Look Who's Talking Too, Executive Produced Finding Neverland starring Johnny Depp(which received seven Oscar nominations). He has directed numerous movies of the week and television shows from The Wonder Years to Clueless to Joan of Arcadia. He has received an Emmy, a Writers Guild of America Award and won best picture honor from the National Board of Review.

 

Irvin Kershner
Irvin Kershner has had a long career in film. He began by doing documentaries in the Middle East and in the U.S Some of his best known feature films are the Hoodlum Priest which starred Don Murray,THE LUCK OF GINGER COFFEY with Robert Shaw and Mare Ure (this film in recent years has attained cult status),A FINE MADNESS, showcasing the talents of Sean Connery, Joanne Woodward and Jean Seberg,THE FLIM FLAM MAN starring George C. Scott, UP THE SANDBOX with Barbra Streisand, RETURN OF A MAN CALLED HORSE starring Richard Harris, the critically acclaimed TV movie RAID ON ENTEBBE which was nominated for 9 Emmys, including Best Direction,THE EYES OF LAURA MARS starring Faye Dunaway and Tommy Lee Jones, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, second film in the STAR WARS trilogy and one of the top 10 highest grossing films of all time.

 

Edgy Lee
Edgy Lee is a fifth generation Hawaii-born filmmaker. Her most recent film, "The Hawaiians - Reflecting Spirit", was presented at the opening of the Smithsonian Institution Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C., currently broadcasting on PBS. Her filmography includes such acclaimed, award-winning films as "Papakolea, Story of Hawaiian Land", "Waikiki In the Wake of Dreams" and "Paniolo O Hawaii ~ Cowboys of the Far West" among other works. In 2004 and 2005 Edgy produced two films on methamphetamine in unprecedented prime simulcasts on eleven television stations through out the State of Hawaii. Her latest project is the creation of the Pacific Network, an Internet network of nine channels designed as a "Native Hawaiian portal to the world", a nexus for news, entertainment, educational and interactive programs.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is a veteran of some 40 big-screen films, dating back 21 years, and numerous network tv productions. He will appear in episodes of NBC’s Emmy-nominated "Heros" this season. His latest movie,"BALLS OF FURY", is now in theaters. It’s a genre departure for Tagawa. It’s a comedy. 3 of the films in which Tagawa appeared won a total of 13 Academy Awards: Bernardo Bertolucci’s "THE LAST EMPEROR" (1987), Rob Marshall’s "MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA" (2006) and Michael Bay’s "PEARL HARBOR." (2001).
